To obtain medical care within the hospice service, there are two main components:

First, confirmation that the patient meets the necessary diagnostic criteria is needed. This is usually accomplished by speaking with the patient and/or the family as well as to treating physician or our consulting physician.

Second, alignment between the current treatment goals and the medical benefits of palliative care needs to be discussed. This is usually accomplished in meeting with the patient and/or family to learn about the medical treatment and current goals.
